Cold temperatures help us feel drowsy, and a cool core body temperature helps us get to sleep faster. Ways to achieve this is by turning down the heat and keeping your bedroom cool, ideally around 60 to 68 degrees. Opening a window helps bring in fresh, oxygen-rich air which can help with your rest. If you should wake up at any point being chilly, keep those blankets within reach so that you will not have to search for them and get right back into that REM sleep zone. Remember that starts with a good mattress….

Fluffy pillows place your head at an angle and can put a kink in your neck. Proper alignment is so essential for a good night’s sleep. Thinner pillows tend to be better than thicker ones. The position of your body in bed should be similar to your alignment when standing up straight: neutral spine position and a long neck. Those who sleep on their stomach should look for very soft pillows, such as feather pillows, as they tend to lessen the strain on the back. Those that suffer with a slight hunch or spinal curve will need a fuller pillow to allow a tilt to the head slightly forward. BedCrafters by Michelle would love to help you by showing you the correct position to place your pillow as well as help you with your selection of the right pillow.

In a 2010 study, researchers from Northwestern University found putting people suffering with insomnia on a 16 week exercise program that included walking, biking, or jogging for 10 to 15 minutes at a time; by week six doing 30 to 40 minutes per time four times a week. Afterwards, they found a significant increase in the quality of sleep- they fell asleep faster, slept for more hours, and better moods and felt more alert during the day. A mattress that is made for your body type and addresses your specific needs is our area of expertise. Remember “Give Us One Night…We”ll Give You A Better Day! I Promise”….Sweet Dreams….Michelle and Annette

According to the study published by the American Heart Association titled Hypertension: Journal of the American Heart Association, sleeping sound may be the key to lower blood pressure.

The Harvard School of Medicine study of 784 men ranging in ages 65 and over concluded that those who got the least sleep were more likely to develop hypertension than those who got the most sleep. Those men who received less sleep also had more poor-quality sleep, including shorter sleep duration, more awakenings at night and more sleep apnea. The one factor most strongly found was the development of high blood pressure. This showed that poor sleep quality raises the risks regardless of the sleep durations and other sleep issues.

Researchers said that the results of the study suggested the sleep quality is the third pillar of overall health. ” People should recognize that sleep, diet, and physical activity are critical to good health”.

Start with you looking at your mattress as one of the reasons for the lack of sleep.

Because people have different body weights, as well as different comfort preferences, assisting my customers making the right choice is one of the most important aspects of my business. What mattress that is right for the 100 pound person may not be right for the 170 pound person. There is no substitution for lying on a mattress, taking the time for the rest test before making a decision. Some of the biggest issues with mattresses range from inadequate spinal support and pressure points that lead to circulation problems, muscle fatigue, morning stiffness and chronic lower back pain. This is where I can help you make a mattress purchasing decision that will alter your life. By altering compression rates and foam densities I can help you get a better night’s sleep. Come visit my showroom and my new webpage at www.bedcraftersbymichelle.com and educate yourself on the importance of a good night’s sleep.

Expert at the National Institutes of Health recommend that most adults need seven to eight hours of sleep [...]

Expert at the National Institutes of Health recommend that most adults need seven to eight hours of sleep each night. Did you get the recommended amount? One way is to create a sleep sanctuary-environment that promotes sound sleep to leave you feeling refreshed in the morning.

Tips to create your sleep sanctuary:

1. Evaluate your bedroom environment including light, color, and accessories. Make it a soothing space for total relaxation.
2. Create a calming and personal environment in you can begin and each day.
3. Select a mattress that gives you room to move easily- especially if you’re sharing your bed.
4. If your mattress is more than 5 to 7 years old, it may not provide the proper support and comfort needed.
5. Protect your mattress from unwanted invaders-use a mattress protector to keep out the dust mites and other invading organisms from invading as well as spills from penetrating.
6. Choose top-quality pillows to help keep your spine properly aligned and to cradle you in comfort. And most of all, use the proper placement of the pillow to make sure you receive the most benefit from your pillow.
7. Use high thread count sheets and a plush bedding ensemble to make your bed inviting and yours. What a difference quality sheets can make. Look at the quality and finish first. If you can see through them like tissue paper, they are not worth the costs.
8. Keep your sleep environment uncluttered, dark, quiet, and cool. No TVs, No phones, No computers.

Follow these tips and I promise you a better night’s sleep. And to learn some more tips, please feel free to stop by the showroom.
